Deepen your dance technique and artistry. Learn how to create your own dances- expressing your own creative voice. Learn, and learn about, these modern dance techniques, their different foundations toward the physical art of movement, their beginnings, and how artists through time create and find inspiration. Train in ballet, learn repertory from modern and ballet masterworks of our time. Dive into the beautiful and intricate Bharatanatyam, a prominent form of Indian Classical Dance - learning to dance complex rhythms and technique. Curriculum: Modern (Graham is focus, with Humphrey, Hawkins, Sokolow, and Horton, Limon) Techniques, Ballet, Pointe/Pre-Pointe, Variations, Contemporary, Repertory, Choreography & Improvisation; and Bharatanatyam. PLACEMENT: Kanopy Academy Students enroll in their current level as follows: Beginning = Level 1-2 (ages 5-8) Beginning/Beginning-Intermediate = Level 3 (ages 8-11); Beginning-Intermediate/Intermediate = Level 4 (ages 10-14); Advanced-Intermediate = Level 5 (ages 12-adult); Advanced= Level 6 (ages 13-adult); Kanopy2 pre pro trainee program (ages 14+-adult). Please inquire at [email protected] TUITION: Registration and Tuition Payment are required to secure a place and are due on or before September 1, 2022. In-Person space is limited to ensure the health and safety of students and faculty, and is on a first come, first serve basis. Enrollment is ongoing through the year and is subject to availability. School Year enrollment has a payment plan option you may choose during registration process. Students who are unable to register for the entire school year may register per quarter at a higher tuition rate. No refunds. IN-PERSON: We welcome students in-person safely, with limited class sizes, following state and county health and safety guidelines. Do not attend class if you are feeling ill, have fever, or other flu/covid symptoms. Make up class by attending an additional class once healthy. (If required, we will be able to pivot to virtual learning with our new hi-tech system.) We are located at 329 West Mifflin St., next to Madison Opera Center and across from Overture Parking Ramp. Parking drop-off on street, Madison Opera Lot, or Overture Parking Ramp. WHAT YOU WILL NEED: Water bottle, snacks/lunch if enrolled in multiple classes in a row. Dance attire required. Only fitted warmups allowed. Barefoot for most classes, ballet slippers for ballet, hair secured off face, no large jewelry (for safety reasons). Journal to write in. No cell phone usage in studio or dressing rooms except for creative projects, or if given permission by directors or faculty. CALENDAR:

Oct 17-23 Kanopy Redux: No Limits (performance week rehearsals for KDC, K2) PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES:Winter Fantasia: academy students who are enrolled for the entire school year, who are at least 9 years of age, and in levels 3-6 may be invited to participate in this Kanopy Dance Company and Kanopy 2 show. Saturday & Sunday rehearsals in the fall will be required as well as weeknights of show week. Performances are Dec. 8-11, 2022, Overture Center for the Arts, Promenade Hall. Tickets: overture.org Kanopy 2 & Academy Showcase (featuring select dances of students own choreography all levels), and Kanopy 2. Saturday May 20, 2023, show times 2 and 5pm, Overture Center for the Arts, Promenade Hall. Class Offerings: Kanopy 2 (K2)Pre-Professional training program for advanced dancers ages 14-26. Performance opportunities include Winter Fantasia (Dec) and Kanopy 2 & Academy Showcase (May) at Overture Center for the Arts. Tickets overture.org. Kanopy 2 dancers may be invited to understudy, second cast or be cast in additional Kanopy Dance Company performances throughout the season and various outreach performances. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled. Tuesday,Thursday,Friday, Saturday afternoon and evening classes & rehearsals are required. Monday, Wednesday classes encouraged. Dancers who want additional classes in Graham Modern and Ballet may attend lower levels. Weekday morning classes and rehearsals not required for those in high school. Level 6For advanced dancers ages 13-adult. Students are strongly encouraged to enroll
in 4 days per week of 9 or more classes held in the afternoon and evenings on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Additional electives offered on
Mondays and Wednesdays. Dancers registered for unlimited classes, who want
additional classes in Graham Modern and Ballet, may attend lower level classes;
or if not registered for unlimited, may register in each level.

Level 5For Advanced-Intermediate dancers ages 12-adult. Students are strongly encouraged
to enroll in 4 days per week of 9 or more classes held in the afternoon and
evenings on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Dancers registered for
unlimited classes, who want additional classes in Graham Modern and Ballet, may
attend lower levels, or if not unlimited, may register in each level. Dancers may
also get permission to attend higher levels.

Level 4For Beginning-Intermediate/Intermediate dancers ages 10-14. Students are strongly
encouraged to enroll in 3-4 days per week of 9 or more classes held in the
afternoon and evenings on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Dancers
registered for unlimited classes, who want additional classes in Graham Modern
and Ballet, may attend lower levels, or if not unlimited, may register in each
level. Dancers may also get permission to attend higher levels of Graham Modern
if they are almost ready for the next level.

encouraged to enroll in 2-3 days per week of 4 or more classes held in the
afternoon and evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
